Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails continue struggle against Israeli regime’s detention policies

Occupied Palestine (The Inside Palestine)- Palestinian detainees in Israeli occupation jails have been continuing their struggle for the eight consecutive day against the arbitrary policies imposed by the Israeli Prison Service.

Commission of Detainees’ Affairs said on Sunday that the Israeli forces attacked Palestinian detainees in Ofer and Megiddo prisons, confirming that the Palestinian Prisoners’ Movement is united in resisting the aggression of the Israel Prison Service.

The commission added that the detainees seek to abolish all the punishments imposed on them after six detainees had escaped from the Gilboa prison.

It indicated that the Israel Prison Service reneged on the agreement of stopping its punitive measures and policies against the detainees.

According to Palestinian figures, about 4,850 Palestinians, including 34 women and 160 children, are currently languishing in Israeli detention jails.

Among them, close to 540 Palestinians are currently being held under Israel’s illegal policy of administrative detention, under which prisoners can be held for renewable six-month periods without charge or trial.
