Nablus (The Inside Palestine)- Hundreds of Palestinians on Saturday mourned the killing of Mohammed Daadas, 13, who was shot by the Israeli forces in Deir al-Hatab in the West Bank city of Nablus city.
The mourners carried Palestinian flags and banners with slogans highlighting “Israeli crimes”.
Daadas’ father and relatives called on the international community to pressure Israel to stop its “crimes” against the Palestinian people.
On Friday, the Ramallah-based Palestinian Health Ministry announced the death of Daadas from a live bullet wound to the abdomen following violence in the village of Deir al-Hatab.
There has since been no response from the Israeli army over the killing.
Palestinian security sources told The New Arab that the Israeli army wounded at least 25 Palestinians in clashes which erupted in various places in the West Bank on Friday.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Ishtaye described Daadas’ killing as a “heinous crime.”
In a press statement received by TNA, Ishtaye called on the international community and human rights organisations to condemn Israel’s “crimes and practices against the Palestinian people”.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian ministry of foreign affairs held the Israeli government fully and directly responsible for the “crime of executing Daadas.”
“The international community and the relevant UN institutions bear directly responsible for the results and repercussions of the suspicious silence and inaction that enveloped the international position towards [Israeli] crimes,” the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry called on the International Criminal Court to break its silence and immediately start investigating the “crimes” of Israeli occupying forces on Palestinian territories.
Hamas movement, which runs the besieged Gaza Strip, said Daadas’ killing is “a war crime” against Palestinian children.
“The blood of Daadas will fuel the uprising of the Palestinian people, who will not settle unless the complete liberation from the Israeli occupation,” Hazem Qassim, spokesman of Hamas, said in a press statement.
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad said that targeting children is “evidence of the terrorism of Israel and its murderous army”, adding resistance and confronting Israeli aggressions “is the way to protect the Palestinian people.”
