Behind Israeli prisons bars, Five Palestinian detainees enter another year

Occupied WB ( The Inside Palestine) – At least five Palestinian detainees have entered another year of detention in Israeli occupation jails, Asra Media Office said on Tuesday.

The office pointed out that the five detainees are listed as the following:
62-year-old detainee Ibrahim Abdul Raziq Bayadsa, a resident of the Baqa al-Gharbiyye town in the occupied territories, entered his 37th year in a row in Israeli jails. He was detained on March 22, 1986, and sentenced to 45 years in prison.

34-year-old detainee Maysara Mahmoud Afana, a resident of the city of Qalqilya, entered his fifth year in row in Israeli jails. He was detained on March 22, 2018, and sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment.

33-year-old detainee Ibrahim Asem Zaid, a resident of the city of Qalqilya, entered his fifth year in row in Israeli jails. He was detained on March 22, 2018 and sentenced to five years of imprisonment.

36-year-old detainee Imad Mohammed Baraghtha, a resident of the city of Ramallah, entered his 11th year in a row in Israeli jails. He was detained on March 22, 2012, and sentenced to 14 years in prison.

34-year-old detainee Issa Khalil Nawaja, a resident of the city of Jenin, entered his 16th year in a row in Israeli jails. He was detained on March 22, 2007, and sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment.

According to Palestinian figures, about 4,850 Palestinians, including 34 women and 160 children, are currently languishing in Israeli detention jails.

Among them, close to 540 Palestinians are currently being held under Israel’s illegal policy of administrative detention, under which prisoners can be held for renewable six-month periods without charge or trial.
