IOF detain 19 Palestinians today

NABLUS, Wednesday, August 05, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday overnight detained 19 Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

PPS confirmed in a press release that Israeli forces rounded up six Palestinians from the northern West Bank district of Nablus.

Five of the six detainees were identified as residents of Kafr Qallil village, south of Nablus, and another as a resident of Ad-Dahiya neighborhood, south of the city.

PPS said that two other Palestinians were detained from the northern West Bank.

One of them was identified as a resident of Tubas city and the other as a resident of Yaabad town, southwest of Jenin city.

In Ramallah and al-Bireh district, Israeli military vehicles stormed Sinjil town, northeast of Ramallah city, where soldiers rounded up two Palestinians.

Israeli soldiers conducted a similar predawn raid in Jalazone refugee camp, north of the city, resulting in the detention of two others.

In the southern West Bank, PPS confirmed that three Palestinians were detained from Bethlehem district.

Israeli soldiers barged their way into al-Azza refugee camp, north of the city, where they detained two of the three, including a former prisoner.

The third one was rounded up in a similar raid in Beit Sahour city, east of Bethlehem.

In Hebron district, Israeli troops rounded up two Palestinians after ransacking their families houses in the city.

They also detained another after breaking into and searching his house in Dura city, west of Hebron.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

According to Palestinian figures, roughly 5,700 Palestinians — including numerous women and children — are currently languishing in Israeli detention facilities.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
