Malaysia expresses support for Palestinians on Int’l Day of Solidarity

Kuala Lumpur (The Inside Palestine)- Marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, November 29, the Malaysian government has reaffirmed its unwavering support and profound solidarity with the Palestinian people and their long-standing struggle for their self–determination, freedom, and independence.

Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato’ Saifuddin bin Abdullah said the occasion remains a painful reminder of the unfinished responsibility of the international community for resolving the question of Palestine.

“Malaysia joins the international community in standing together, united and bound by a common purpose, to seek ways for a peaceful, just and lasting solution to Palestine and its people,” he said in a statement issued today.

Hence, he said Malaysia will continue to pursue actively the Palestinian agenda bilaterally, as well as in various regional and international fora towards realising the Palestinian peoples’ aspiration for freedom and realisation of the State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on internationally agreed parameters, international law, and relevant UN resolutions.

“Malaysia’s continuous support for the Palestinian struggle is also in recognition of the aspirations of the new generation of Palestinian activists towards realizing the Palestinian peoples’ aspiration for freedom and their independent State of Palestine,” he said in the statement.

“The Palestinians have suffered tremendously under the Israeli occupation and blockade and the latter’s racist and discriminatory policies, denial of basic civil rights; imposition of harsh conditions; large scale land and property confiscation, as well as other inhumane acts.”

“The Palestinians deserve justice and peace. The global community owes it to them,” he added.
