Aref Jaber, a photojournalist and member of the Human Rights Defenders Group in the southern West Bank city of al-Khalil, told the official Palestinian Wafa news agency that Abdul-Rahim al-Jabari was struck near the illegal Israeli settlement of Kiryat Arba on Thursday.
Jaber added that the settler fled the scene after the incident.
The Palestinian child was rushed to a hospital for treatment, where medics described his condition as moderate.
There have been scores of “hit and run” incidents targeting Palestinians in different parts of the occupied West Bank, with most of them largely going uninvestigated by Israeli authorities. Some of such events have even resulted in fatalities.
On May 30, an Israeli police vehicle ran over and injured a Palestinian teenage boy for raising a Palestinian flag on his bike in the occupied al-Quds neighborhood of Ras al-Amoud.
Palestinian witnesses, speaking on condition of anonymity, said at the time that three Israeli police officers chased 15-year-old Jawad Abbasi, who was riding his bike while hoisting a Palestinian flag, running him over and causing him bruises in the leg.
The Palestinian teenager was briefly detained by Israeli forces, before he was allowed to go to hospital for medical treatment.
Earlier this year, a Palestinian man lost his life and two others sustained injuries after an Israeli settler ran them over in the northeastern part of the West Bank.
