Occupied Jerusalem(The Inside Palestine)- Israeli authorities have forced another Palestinian citizen to demolish his home built in the western part of al-Quds.
The official Palestinian news agency Wafa, citing local sources, reported on Monday that Israeli authorities left Iqab Jaabis no choice but to totally knock down his own home in Jabal al-Mukabber neighborhood.
Jaabis was forced to tear down part of his house and his dwelling overnight following a municipal demolition order. The municipality’s order to raze the building was issued under the pretext of lacking the necessary construction license, which is almost impossible to obtain.
The municipality had ordered Jaabis to raze his building and if he refused to do as ordered, demolition crews from the municipality would do the job, and in that case, he would have to pay the sum of thousands of shekels as demolition costs.
Throughout the years, Israel has frequently demolished Palestinian homes, claiming that the structures have been built without permits.
The Tel Aviv regime even orders the Palestinian owners to tear down their own homes or pay the demolition costs to the municipality.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says Israeli authorities either demolish or seize Palestinian property in the West Bank and East al-Quds, a trend which has led to the displacement of a large number of Palestinians in recent months.
According to the OCHA’s recent report, Israel has demolished more than 420 Palestinian-owned structures in the West Bank so far this year.
Israeli soldiers assault Palestinian child in West Bank
Separately, Palestinian media reported that Israeli forces brutally assaulted a Palestinian schoolchild in the southern West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron).
Raed Tamimi said Israeli soldiers stopped his 14-year-old son, Muntaser, near a military checkpoint in the area as he was on his way to his school.
“The Israeli forces searched his school bag and then brutally assaulted him, inflicting bruises to his head,” said Raed.
Al-Khalil is home to about 800 notoriously aggressive Israeli settlers who live in compounds heavily guarded by Israeli troops.
