Dozens of Jewish settlers stormed on Tuesday morning the courtyards of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque under heavy police protection.
Local sources reported that 39 settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque and performed Talmudic rituals. Some of them wore indecent clothes.
The Temple groups called on their extremist followers to storm Al-Aqsa and turn this winter into a “Jewish winter” in the holy Islamic shrine.
The call coincides with the beginning of the Jewish festival of lights called Hanukkah. This festival begins on Thursday, December 10, and continues through Friday, December 18.
Last month, the Israeli police provided the settlers an additional half hour of tours in the Aqsa Mosque, between 12:30 and 2:00 instead of 1:30.
The Temple groups had urged the Israeli occupation authorities to tighten their grip over Jerusalemites, harass them, and banish them from Jerusalem. They pointed out the necessity of exploiting the American support for Israel and push towards more Judaization projects.
The head of the Islamic Supreme Authority in Jerusalem and the preacher of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Ikrimah Sabri, warned of the seriousness of the recent request of the extremist Jewish groups. They asked to build a Talmudic school in the eastern area of Al-Aqsa to gain a foothold in it after they failed to control and convert the al-Rahma Gate to a synagogue.
Sheikh Sabri warned that the occupation is trying to take away the powers of the endowments in Al-Aqsa and gradually take control of the Holy City.
He pointed out that the temporal and spatial division policy that the occupation is trying to impose began decades ago but Jerusalemites and the Palestinians in 1948 Occupied Palestine confronted that scheme and prevented the imposition of the occupation hegemony on Jerusalem.
Calls continue for all Muslims in 1948 Occupied Palestine and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to intensify their presence at Al-Aqsa Mosque to repel the Jewish settlers’ incursions.
