HELSINKI, Tuesday, June 30, 2020 (WAFA) – The Finnish Foreign Minister, Pekka Haavisto, affirmed his country’s steadfast stance in respecting the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, respecting international law and standing against any violation of international norms and laws.
The Finnish minister affirmed during a meeting in Helsinki with Tayseer al-Ajouri, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Finland, working with Nordic countries and EU countries with coherent positions to take a unified position in the event Israel announces the start of its annexation plans.
He Pointed out that they also support the re-launch of serious peace negotiations based on international references and law, and European decisions that result in the implementation of the two-state solution in accordance with UN resolutions, stating that his country is committed to the EU policy in this regard.
According to a statement issued by the Palestinian embassy in Finland, al-Ajouri urged the Finnish minister to get his country to recognize the state of Palestine and stand firm against Israel’s annexation plans and US deal of the century.
The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Finland urged Haavisto to corporate with Nordic and EU countries to take a practical stance towards Israel’ annexation plans, put an end to the policy of double standards, and to take effective actions that make the Israeli government desist from its despotic policy, emphasizing the need for Finland to recognize the state of Palestine and to work with Nordic and EU countries for a collective recognition of the State of Palestine which would support the two-state solution.
