The High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel, the municipality of Qalansuwa city and the popular committees in the area have called for a massive popular rally around the clock outside the three homes threatened with demolition.
The popular rally will continue until Tuesday to prevent the Israeli authorities from carrying out the demolitions, according to a statement released following an emergency meeting held by local officials.
The meeting was attended by head of the Follow-Up Committee Mohamed Baraka, Qalansuwa mayor Abdul-Baset Salameh, Arab Knesset members Jaber Asakela and Waleed Taha, and other officials from the Follow-Up Committee and popular committees, in addition to the homeowners and local residents.
During the meeting, mayor Salameh talked about his municipality’s contacts with the competent authorities in Israel about the demolition orders and the need to revoke the measure.
The attendees listened to reports on the issue and the efforts being made to avert the demolitions from officials representing the popular committees and lawyer Alaa Tallawi, who represents the homeowners.
