Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Military checkpoints in the occupied West Bank will be closed on Tuesday as a result of a strike by the employees of the Israeli foreign and defence ministries following a dispute about pay.
The strike will leave up to 100,000 Palestinian workers unable to access their jobs in the occupied territories.
In 2011, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) estimated the numbers of Israeli military checkpoints in the occupied West Bank of 522 permanent checkpoints and 495 temporary checkpoints.
As an occupation authority, the occupation state uses checkpoints to humiliate Palestinians. Dozens of Palestinians get killed and wounded on checkpoints every week, not mentioning the extra hours, which Palestinians need to reach their jobs and practice their freedom of movement, which makes their daily routines nearly impossible to do.
