Britain (The Inside Palestine)- The Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB) organized on Friday the 19th of March 2021 an electronic evening of solidarity with the people of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood on the occasion of the memory of Israa and Mi’raj within the restrictions followed in Britain to limit the spread of COVID-19.
The head of the Palestinian Forum in Britain, Dr. Hafez Al-Karmi emphasized that Jerusalem has been suffering for more than a hundred years from the British and Zionist occupations, and the occupier is trying once again to bring it to its knees and wipe out its landmarks, but every day it stands great with pride reminding the occupation of its fascism, injustice and aggression.
The last of this injustice and aggression was the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, which was exposed to an attempt to displace its people from their homes in implementation of the policy of ethnic cleansing practiced by the occupation and to Judaize of what remained of its civilizational landmarks, Karmi added.
The PFB chairman declared solidarity with the people of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem after the Israeli Central Court informed them of its decision that was consistent with what the settler associations had demanded mainly to hand them a number of Jerusalemite families homes in the neighborhood.
These are the families of the ‘Kurds’, ‘al-Qasim’, ‘Iskafi’ and ‘al-Jaouni’ that were given until the beginning of May of this year to evacuate their homes against their will for the benefit of settlers, striking historically, all the human rights charters and the rights of ownership of these people to their homes even if they do not have the legal documents of ownership in their hands for they have been living in them for hundreds of years, Karmi underlined.
The journalist Jamal Ahmed addressed the solidarity stand recalling the history of this neighborhood and its association with doctor Hussam al-Din Jarrah, the personal doctor of Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi and the historical presence of the people of this neighborhood within the boundaries of the city of Jerusalem.
The stand was attended by distinguished artists Zaki Al-Asali from Syria, Abdel-Rahman Bou Habila from Algeria and Ghassan Abu Khadra.
Al-Karmi, in turn, added that the people of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood are waiting for the Jordanian authorities to respond to them by granting them documents confirming their ownership of these houses to confront the occupation’s plans of confiscating the homes of Jerusalemites under various pretexts.
