Saudi Arabia (The Inside Palestine)_ Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated on Friday that Saudi Arabia supports full normalization with Israel, but said this would only happen after the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The minister said while addressing an online talk at Med2020, “What we need to make [normalisation of ties with Israel] happen is a peace deal that delivers a Palestinian state with dignity and with a workable sovereignty that Palestinians can accept.”
“That deal would have to be negotiated, but what is important now is to bring back Israelis and Palestinians to the negotiating table to work towards a fair deal,” Prince Faisal stated.
Prince Faisal also said a normalisation of ties with Israel has long been part of Saudi Arabia’s vision.
“We still have that same vision, whereby Israel becomes a normal part of the region, where it has fully normal relations with the neighbours. What we need to make it happen is to deliver a [Palestinian] state.”
Prince Faisal also said he was optimistic that the incoming administration led by President-elect Joe Biden “would pursue a policy that promotes regional stability.”
“Any talks with the new administration will lead to close cooperation,” he said. “we will have, I am sure, very in-depth discussions on what regional stability means and on the best way to achieve it.”
