Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Novelist Issa Qawasmeh from occupied Jerusalem announced that he canceled the signing ceremony of his book “The Victory of Rage”, which was supposed to be held in Sharjah this year in protest against the UAE-Israel normalization agreement.
On his Facebook account, Qawasmeh said his decision came responding to calls by intellectuals to boycott cultural events in the UAE.
Novelist Yahya Khalaf had also announced on Sunday that he asked the publisher of his novel to withdraw it from the Booker Prize.
The Kuwaiti author Abdullah Salloum also announced withdrawal from all cultural events and business deals with the UAE, while Ahmad Abu Islim withdrew from the Booker Prize and called on Arab intellectuals to boycott the country after it normalized its relations with the occupation state.
Several Arab and Palestinian intellectuals had announced boycotting cultural and award events planned in the UAE following the normalization agreement between the Gulf country and the occupation state of ‘Israel’.
